May 2nd, 2008Catch Her If You Can
May 1st, 2008If you haven’t started sweating L.A.’s new pop sensation Rory yet, then you should probably do that really soon before people start to look at you funny and stuff. She’s my favorite new pop singer of the year and her debut single “Catch Me If You Can” is all over the Valley’s Top 40 station, Power 106. You can start your obsession by clicking here…x eddie![]()
California Love
April 30th, 2008
Hey - I’m in L.A. now sitting in my hotel room in Hollywood (which is actually a 1930’s apt. building that has been converted into a somewhat funky but cool hotel) feeling quite Raymond Chandler-esque as I pound on my typewriter wearing a straw fedora. OK - so the typewriter is actually a MacBook…but other than that the old-school Hollywood vibe is intact! Before we move this blog on to some stylish L.A.-based activities however, let’s take a moment to review Coachella 2008…
Best Style: Any girl wearing the huge sunglasses and floppy 70’s hat combo. This look combines wealthy 70’s California glamour with a bit of hippie bad girl decadence and danger thrown into the mix. I’m calling this look the “Sharon Tate” and naming her the inspiration for summer 2008.
Best Music Moment: Chromeo late in their set, when they played “Needy Girl”, “Bonafied Lovin’”, and “Fancy Footwork” back-to-back-to-back. Other musical highlights were provided by Hot Chip, Cut/Copy, Santogold, Yelle, and Uffie. Roger Waters was also great - and I’m not really a fan of that sort of thing.
Best Food: A tie between the charcoal-grilled hamburgers and the guacamole and chips in VIP.
Best Party: Anthem magazine’s two-day bash in Cathedral City.
Best Muses: Heidi, Sarah Jane, Julie, Allia…and quite a few mystery girls whose names I will never know but whose style knocked me out.
