Kanga Bangas

So yeah…this is it…and these are them…the last of my streetstyle photos from Sydney and Rosemount Australian Fashion Week. It’s time to move on to other things - but wow, Sydney is amazing. I hope to come back soon and perhaps make it to Melbourne next trip as well! For now, I’ll leave you with these photos and my “best of Sydney” list. (Best somebody-get-this-kid-to-Paris moment - Dion Lee’s show in an underground car park. Best only-in-Australia moment - swimming in the seaside shark-free rock pool at Icebergs, Bondi. You weren’t cool unless - you were wearing at least one piece from an Australian designer. That designer’s line wasn’t cool unless - the clothes featured at least a few cut outs, slashes, or panels. Best cheap eats - the “Tiger” meat pie with mashed potatoes and mushy peas at Harry’s Cafe de Wheels, dockside in Woolloomooloo. Best four-star hotel at two-star prices - the Swissotel, downtown. Best “I think it might be too early in the morning for this” moment - Romance Was Born. Best muses - Bronwyn, Kira, Lucinda, Sally, Emilia, Georgette.) xxoo to all the great people I met in Australia! - Eddie

Exit Stage Left

img_4503asbwHey - how ya goin’? It’s Eddie…Monday night…New York. Just hangin’ around the Stylesightings HQ…listening to some CSS…Little Boots…PNAU…Ladyhawke remixes…”Talk To Me” by Peaches…the usual…no big deal. So I’m getting ready to post the last of my photos from Sydney and Rosemount Australian Fashion Week later tonight. Gonna be around 55 or 60 photos…streetstyle…a few backstage shots. Here’s one of them…a backstage shot from Kym Ellery’s show…xx

Stone Cold

I was going to write a little blog post comparing Emilia to Lara Stone…but then I looked at these photos again and realized she deserves to stand on her own…no comparisons. This is just her knock-around-town “day look”…a little something she threw together at the last minute…xx

Waltzing Matildas

Hi - it’s Eddie. I’m back home in the States now but had a fantastic time in Australia - aka “Straya”. I think Sydneysiders - and Aussies in general - are some of the most genuinely friendly people you will ever meet. While the fashion industry and community there is fairly small and close-knit, their passion for and commitment to fashion far exceeds other warm weather cities like Miami or Los Angeles. They are quite a bit more sophisticated in their fashion choices and knowledge than one might expect. I chalk this up to their British roots and to the cosmopolitan nature of Sydney today. I still have quite a few photos I want to share with you guys from Rosemount Australian Fashion Week…I’ll be recapping and posting more photos later this week. xxx

Koala Cuties

A few of my favorite attendees at yesterday’s much-hyped Romance Was Born show…on a pier in Sydney harbour in the shadow of the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge…it’s all happening as part of Rosemount Australian Fashion Week…I’m heading out now to go to more shows. xo eddie

Sydney Supernova

Last night in Sydney…speeding through the darkened city in a taxi…we were heading for Chinatown in search of a late night bite…the driver was blasting Sydney Radio Nova 96.9…running red lights while the DJ banged Lady Gaga’s “LoveGame” and “My Delerium” by Ladyhawke. You’ve gotta love a city that thinks of Ladyhawke as a Top 40 radio artist. Brilliant city, brilliant music, brilliant people, brilliant atmosphere here. Earlier, we had seen a brilliant runway show from Ellery in an old Victorian-era warehouse on Amelia Street. Packed with the coolest and friendliest people you could ever meet. I was chatting with Tanya at the show…xx
