Stylesightings Muse – Vilde

I spotted Vilde on the street in Williamsburg. Her look is so adorable and awww-inspiring that I wanted to give her a separate post of her own. My two favorite bits of her outfit are the cape and the headband – but it’s not really about that. It’s really more about the sweet look on her face, the slight muffin-top poofiness that the headband is creating with her hair, just her whole cute vibe. She might not be able to pull this look off past the age of 25 – but right now, in this moment, she’s a bohemian Williamsburg dream girl. xx eddie
Nike and Rasmus
Nike and Rasmus are a young Swedish model couple that I kept running into during Stockholm Fashion Week. I loved the way both of them looked – whether backstage wearing the clothes from one of this season’s collections, or on the street wearing their own stuff. I thought they both had a rather iconic look and vibe – a combination of world-weary and fresh-faced depending on the day or time or situation. Nike (the girl) has that smoky, smouldering, heavy-lidded sexiness that makes me think more of France than Sweden. I think a top modeling agency in either New York or Paris should snap this young Carine Roitfeld look-a-like up fast. They seem to be quite well known within Swedish fashion circles and both appeared in some of the week’s best shows – from Cheap Monday to Wood Wood. (Cheap Monday sent them down the runway hand-in-hand.) Despite their status as local rock stars, they both are sweeties and always crossed the room to speak to me – welcoming faces in a hectic week. Here’s to you kids… xx eddie
Stylesightings Muse – Bettina
I noticed Bettina on Mercer Street and thought she had the perfect cool downtown girl winter outfit. It doesn’t get any better than this. I love her oversized shaggy fur vest, the black leather jacket underneath with dangling belt, the skull-print scarf, the thin leather gloves with knuckle holes, the leggings – she’s nailed it head-to-toe honestly. Love the thin black lace-ups with red lining and grey socks that she is wearing casually unlaced with just the right amount of lining exposed. Oh and the trapper topper is super cute too…wow…Elmer Fudd never looked like this. xx eddie
The Last Glamourai
I bumped into The Glamourai the other day in the Fashion District when she had just come from a fitting. She’s from Texas but I think sometimes “New Yorkers” aren’t always actually born in New York. She’s a committed New York fashion girl these days and she’s won my admiration with outfits like the one you see here. Polka dots, prints, stripes, solids, metal spikes, wood, leather, fur, crucifixes…it takes an experienced hand and keen eye to pull all of these disparate elements together into a cohesive whole…don’t try this at home. She had been out to two fashion parties the night before as well because she’s part of the fashion pack. Listen…I keep fashion in perspective…I mean none of us are saving lives here…but I’m completely serious when I say that it’s vitally important that there are girls like her in New York. Just think of how much effort went into this one outfit – shopping, laundry, dry cleaning, sourcing and tailoring vintage pieces, making the crucifix necklace, etc. Someone who will put this sort of thought and time into their outfit on a cold and hungover January morning is one of the 4,738 reasons why New York will never be Cleveland. You can read more about her adventures by clicking here. Respect. xxx eddie
