Exactly two months ago today, I named “Blind” by Hercules and Love Affair my track of the year. I’d flipped out and stormed the DJ booth when I heard Hanna Hanra spin it at Durrr during London Fashion Week. While it’s still not available in the US iTunes store (I bought it from legal UK download site 7digital), New York City fans of the group finally got to hear them play the track live when HLA performed on Saturday night at an Opening Ceremony-hosted party at Studio B in Brooklyn. Billed as HLA’s first ever live show (they had actually played a secret show earlier in the month in a club in midtown Manhattan), it was an exciting, strange, and beautiful affair. A few random notes…the fire marshall showed up but fortunately the packed gig didn’t get shut down…Antony did not perform with the group as I hear he has fallen out with Andy Butler - a shemale named Nomi handled much of his vocals instead…visually the group comes across way more sleazy 80’s than the record would lead you to believe - think Frankie Goes To Hollywood meets Marc Almond in a leather bar in London’s Soho and you will be close…the music was amazing and the show had a great, positive vibe…hopefully Kim Ann will learn to project her voice more - I couldn’t really hear her. Too bad BoomBox isn’t still going - I think we’ve found their house band. Check out my photos from the night below…x eddie

Hey - check out the cuties who came out last night for the Style Wars fashion battling championship. It was held at New York’s coolest new boutique hotel, the Stoli Hotel. Afterwards, we took a big white limo that was trolling for customers over to some other party on the Lower East Side and I stayed out too late. xo eddie

Hey - I’m in L.A. now sitting in my hotel room in Hollywood (which is actually a 1930’s apt. building that has been converted into a somewhat funky but cool hotel) feeling quite Raymond Chandler-esque as I pound on my typewriter wearing a straw fedora. OK - so the typewriter is actually a MacBook…but other than that the old-school Hollywood vibe is intact! Before we move this blog on to some stylish L.A.-based activities however, let’s take a moment to review Coachella 2008…
Best Style: Any girl wearing the huge sunglasses and floppy 70’s hat combo. This look combines wealthy 70’s California glamour with a bit of hippie bad girl decadence and danger thrown into the mix. I’m calling this look the “Sharon Tate” and naming her the inspiration for summer 2008.
Best Music Moment: Chromeo late in their set, when they played “Needy Girl”, “Bonafied Lovin’”, and “Fancy Footwork” back-to-back-to-back. Other musical highlights were provided by Hot Chip, Cut/Copy, Santogold, Yelle, and Uffie. Roger Waters was also great - and I’m not really a fan of that sort of thing.
Best Food: A tie between the charcoal-grilled hamburgers and the guacamole and chips in VIP.
Best Party: Anthem magazine’s two-day bash in Cathedral City.
Best Muses: Heidi, Sarah Jane, Julie, Allia…and quite a few mystery girls whose names I will never know but whose style knocked me out.

For a second, I thought I saw a girl at Coachella with a cuter outfit than the Debbie Harry-inspired look that Heidi was rocking…but then I realized that would be impossible and laughed awkwardly to myself.
