The Mainsqueeze and I moved into a new place this past weekend, and while it seems like all we’ve done is unpack, it still looks like a bomb went off in our cozy one-bedroom. I’m not unhappy about it, just ready to see all of our knickknacks and artwork up and about and looking beautiful. Of course, all this nesting has only fueled my already intense passion for homewears; they’re pretty much all I think about these days. Can you tell?

As usual, big love to Stylesight for keeping my homefires burning bright.

I’m not a TV person by any stretch of the imagination, but my fabulous friend/neighbor/co-worker Alex somehow managed to turn me into a rabid fan of Bravo’s Top Design, to the point where I actually plan my Wednesday nights around it (something I haven’t done since the early 90s when ABC’s TGIF lineup was cool). What’s the draw here, really? Is it the catty fights between interior designers? The increasingly strange outfits judge Kelly Wearstler is somehow able to pull off? My unhealthy and lifelong obsession with housewares? No. I keep tuning in for one reason: Jonathan Adler. He’s perfect, from his mixed prints down to his elegant potter’s hands. Witty, charming and well-mannered, Jonathan Adler is an inspiration to us all, the realization of what humans can be. His website is full of life-affirming treats, such as the company Manifesto (”We believe colors can’t clash. We believe tassels are the earrings of the home.”) and his delightful bio (”2000: Opens store number two in East Hampton. Spends inappropriate amount of time at the beach.”) Oh, and he makes everything your Dream House could ever need, from needlepoint pillows and scented candles to upholstered headboards and lacquer furniture. Check these pictures from Stylesight and tell me you don’t want everything. Just try. And make sure to tune in tonight for the Top Design season finale, where Jonathan Adler will undoubtedly look and sound like the perfect gentleman he is.

Hedi Slimane’s home must be absolutely amazing. When I visit it in my dreams (I literally have and it was a serious letdown to wake up in my messy Brooklyn apartment), it’s a giant warehouse-y space, minimally furnished in his signature black and white, totally functional and completely stylish. Proof? The Dior Homme creative head’s latest gift to the world is the interestingly named F System (short for Furniture System) Project: handmade, limited edition pieces of that just scream “Hedi made me!” with their stark beauty and slightly off-kilter sensibility. (And yes, like most of Slimane’s designs, they’re skinny.) (more…)
