Hey - yesterday’s Wall Street Journal column on how to pronounce fashion names gave me such a laugh that I had to pass it on to you guys. Anyone who has ever accidentally bumped into Hedi Slimane (Edi Sli-mahn) and torn their Ann Demeulemeester (Ahn Duh-moo-lah-MEE-ster) jacket while racing to catch the Thakoon (Ta-koon) show will surely be able to relate. The best bit - look for the sidebar where you can play audio clips of WSJ fashion reporter Christina Passariello pronouncing the names correctly. It’s like a Berlitz course taught by Derek Zoolander! For kicks, try it the way I did - hover your cursor over the “play audio” button…pronounce the designer/label name the way you think is correct…then play the clip. One key to correct pronunciation is not being afraid to use the correct lilt - some fashion names require a certain Euro affectation that can feel seriously pretentious. The upside - certain fashion names, when pronounced correctly, are really fun to say. I dare you not to smile while saying Bulgari (BOOL-ga-ree) or Ungaro (OON-ga-ro)…xo Eddie

It seemed like everywhere I went in Paris and London last month I couldn’t swing a baguette without hitting someone wearing Yves Klein blue. With more depth and richness - and just plain pop - than your average “royal” blue, this color looks fantastic when paired with black. It’s a great way to add a bit of juice to your “all black all the time” urban uniform. There was also something about the dull light of Europe in winter that caused this color to look positively electric when set against grey skies.

Also, check out this kid’s whole look - most adults don’t dress nearly this well. Nice silver metallic jazz shoes…and the look on his face is like, “What? I dress like this all the time.”

Maybe someday they will build a catwalk inside Buckingham Palace…until then, the Biba show at historic Claridge’s Hotel will have to serve as the most British introduction one could hope for to London Fashion Week…
