Swedish Bargain Hunting

When trying to not only maintain but grow a fashion label in the midst of a recession, it probably doesn’t hurt to be thought of as cheap. That’s especially true when your line is thought of as well-priced (cheap), yet forward thinking and innovative on the design side (not cheap). That’s the best of both worlds and it goes a long way toward explaining the success of Cheap Monday. Their show and after/drinks thing was the biggest and coolest thing on the somewhat reduced show schedule this season in Stockholm. It was held in a huge, nearly hanger-sized space…on the grounds of an old telephone factory on the outskirts of the city…now the home of Konstfack art college. Here are some of the kids who turned up on the night. Yeah it was at night…it stays light outside until around 11pm here this time of year. xx eddie
