Witches, Pirate, Pagan, Mod: Westwood Goes Hollywood
June 1st, 2007
Brit designer Vivienne Westwood (Our Lady of Tartan) will soon have the somewhat dubious privilege of seeing her fascinating life story played out on the big screen. While I’m not really a “movie person” (long live books!) this is exciting, if somewhat bizarre news. Unlike Coco Chanel, who will soon be the subject of not one but THREE biopics, Lady Viv’s not dead yet! Either way, Westwood’s journey from a married 21 year old school teacher to punk rock fashion purveyor (alongside then husband Malcolm McLaren) to style icon is sure to be perfect fodder for Hollywood. No word on casting, but I’d like to recommend the sublime Tilda Swinton, whose resemblance to Lady Viv is truly remarkable. Also, think of the COSTUMES! I don’t think I’ve been this excited for a movie to come out…well, ever.

Right on Ash, Tilda would make a fantastic Viv.
